About the Instructors
Ronald D. Beck - The Fox Hopyard Golf Club Instructional
Program is directed by 1996 Connecticut Section Teacher
of the Year, Ronald D. Beck. In 23 years as a PGA Professional
Ron has given over 8,000 private lessons, over 500 clinics
and taught in over 150 golf schools. Ron is very active in
PGA Education, currently serving on the national Golf
Professional Training Program Faculty. In 1993 Ron received
the Horton Smith Award for contributions to golf
education. Ron is the originator and coordinator of the
bi-annual Northeast Teaching and Coaching Summit in which
he has brought in most of the top instructors in the country.
In 2007 Golf Digest Ron was rated as the fourth best teacher
in Connecticut and Golf Magazine has recognized Ron as one
of the Top Instructors in New England. A self-proclaimed
student of the game Ron has taught with and learned from
many of the top instructors in America. Teaching is his passion.

Mike Matrone
Assistant Golf Professional
Mike started his career in golf as a PGA PGM intern at Fox Hopyard in 2001. He followed that with internships at the Patterson Club in Fairfield, Connecticut and the Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. The past two years Mike has been working as an Assistant Professional at the Links of Spanish Bay and Pebble Beach Golf Links in Carmel, California. Mike is a Class A Member of the PGA of America and is involved in all aspects of our instructional programs. |
